CAC LEAP Instructions

To authenticate with your CAC remotely, it must first be affiliated with your User account in Active Directory.

This is typically an automated process via the Universal Login Reader Tool (ULRT), when logging into physical SBU terminal. If you are unable to visit a location with an SBU terminal, use the instructions below to affiliate your CAC with your account.

 

Contact the ESC and request a Requested Item (RITM) ticket be submitted to the Active Directory team. You will need to have your 16-digit PIV available to provide to the ESC agent. Your PIV number is a unique 16-digit number and will be necessary information to include in your ticket to LEAP your CAC.  You can obtain your PVI from your local certificates store. 

The steps below will show you how to obtain your PVI number. 

1. Open Control Panel.

2. Click Network and Internet.

3. Select Internet Options

4. Within the Content tab, click Certificates.

5. Select your current DOD ID certificate and click View.

6. Navigate to the Details tab and scroll down and select Subject Alternative Name. The information that populates below in the window will contain Principle Name= followed by your 16-digit PIV.
