The Allied GEOINT Enterprise

Foundations

Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States - often referred to as the "Five Eyes" (FVEYs) partners - enjoy an especially close intelligence-sharing alliance.

The Allied System for Geospatial Intelligence (ASG)

The ASG is the governance model to manage the GEOINT-sharing relationship of the allied partners:

  • Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation
  • Canadian Forces Intelligence Command
  • GEOINT New Zealand
  • National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence
  • National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

The ASG Senior Management Council (ASMC) provides the vision and strategic direction. The ASMC Coordination Executive (ACE) develops and implements the strategy and synchronizes efforts.

We Unite the GEOINT Enterprise

Functional and mission management are the building blocks of the ASG.

Mission management involves learning through trust, demonstrating progress and conducting pilot projects that show results for partners' mutual benefit.

Functional management enables partners to share and surge their talent and resources for combat support and crisis response.

Working together, the FVEY partners provide each other global, regional and civil GEOINT support.

This arrangement enables the partners to collectively manage risk and overcome challenges relating to professional talent, big data and integration of commercial GEOINT while anticipating and defending against complex threats.

Strategy

The ASG builds an integrated and mutually supportive allied GEOINT enterprise to meet individual and collective warfighting and intelligence needs.

To fulfill this mission, the partners marshal talent and resources around three goals:

  1. People: Enhance the GEOINT profession
  2. Interoperability: Create a common allied GEOINT environment
  3.  Integration: Mission sharing to deliver GEOINT

The strategy encourages ASG members to define problems in the same way and develop common approaches to problem-solving. Solutions are more easily replicated to fit the needs of all partners as a result. Together, they keep GEOINT at the forefront of intelligence and defense missions.
