GEOINT Professional Certification

About the GEOINT Professional Certification Program

The GEOINT Professional Certification program is part of a broader Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security initiative to further professionalize the Department of Defense Intelligence Enterprise workforce. The program applies to all cleared Department of Defense civilian, military, and contractor practitioners in GEOINT-related work roles throughout the National System for Geospatial Intelligence. GPC may also extend to non-DoD members of the NSG with GEOINT equities.

Eligibility Requirements

Before registering for an assessment of one of the 11 credentials offered by the GPC program, GEOINT practitioners need to meet the eligibility requirements specific to the corresponding assessment. To learn more about the eligibility requirements, refer to the GPC Program Handbook. The handbook also addresses objectives, benefits of the various GEOINT certifications, how they promote interoperability across the GEOINT community, and how certifications enable GEOINT practitioners to demonstrate proficiency in the competencies that are common to their specific geospatial intelligence discipline.

Registering for a GPC Assessment

The process for registering for an assessment is dependent on location.

GEOINT practitioners who need to register for GPC assessments at NGA locations are required to schedule them through the GPC site. Detailed reporting instructions will be emailed from the GPC Program Management Office prior to the test session.

To register for a GPC assessment at other locations, please contact the site manager at the location, or contact the GPC PMO at gpcprogramoffice@nga.mil for assistance.

Using GPC Credentials

GEOINT practitioners who are awarded GPC credentials are authorized to use the certification designations and certification marks to promote their expertise and differentiate themselves from their peers.

Renewing Credentials

Credential holders are required to renew their GEOINT Professional Certification credential(s) through the Certification Management System at www.geointcertification.net . All certifications held by GEOINT professionals will expire at the same time as their GPC-Fundamentals credential. Credential holders are required to submit at least 100 professional development units into the CMS no earlier than six months prior to the expiration date of their GPC-F.

Credential renewal through the CMS is quick and intuitive. The average time to upload 100 Professional Development Units and submit a PDU Log is 15-20 minutes. Credential holders should have received an email invitation with a username and instructions on how to claim the CMS account. If credential holders have not received the email, or need assistance setting up a CMS account, please contact the GPC Program Office at gpcprogramoffice@nga.mil.
