NGA's Tearline

NGA sponsors Tearline.mil, a congressionally supported publication platform that features unclassified geospatial intelligence from academic and non-profit contributors using open research and commercial imagery. The project supplies open-source intelligence to grow authoritative reports for NGA, federal partner agencies, and general public usage to support and assist in the agency's mission.

North Korea's Political Prison Camp, Kwan-li-so No. 18

Although North Korea officially announced the closure of Kwan-li-so No. 18 in 2006, commercial satellite imagery analysis indicates that the camp has not been completely razed. Imagery analysis further indicates that the remaining facility, whether officially designated as such or not, is a large and active detention facility.

Vice Admiral Whitworth, NGA Director, Delivers Speech at 2024 Esri User Conference


NGA's Director Whitworth delivered a speech for the 2024 Esri User Conference held in San Diego, California.

The theme of the conference, GIS - Uniting Our World, allowed the director to discuss NGA's efforts in GEOINT AI, Geodesy and Climate Security.

NGA can support all three areas, and by default GIS, by improving our predictions, warnings and repsonses for humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
