Lieutenant General Michele Bredenkamp
U.S. Army Lieutenant General Michele Bredenkamp is the ninth Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. She leads and directs NGA under the authorities of the Secretary of War and Director of National Intelligence. She became NGA’s director on November 5, 2025.
She most recently served as the Director’s Advisor for Military Affairs at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Bredenkamp has commanded at all levels to include Commanding General, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command; Commander, 704th Military Intelligence Brigade; Commander, Targeting Squadron, Joint Special Operations Command; and Commander, A Company, 524th Military Intelligence Battalion. She also served as the G2, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
Joint assignments include serving as the Director’s Advisor for Military Affairs; Director of Intelligence, Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Command Korea; Vice Director, Joint Staff J2; Assistant Chief of Staff, CJ2, Combined Joint Task Force 101.
Bredenkamp has multiple operational deployments including service as the Intelligence Officer, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Strategic Advisory Group, Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF); Military Assistant, ISAF Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, OEF; CJ2, CJTF 101, OEF; Brigade Combat Team S2, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment/1st Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, OEF; Operations and Plans Officer, 313th Military Intelligence Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
Lieutenant General Bredenkamp is a graduate of Spring Hill Jesuit College, holds master’s degrees from Louisiana State University and the School of Advanced Military Studies, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. She also served as a U.S. Army War College Fellow for the Director of the National Security Agency.
