Senior Executive Positions

Executive Resources at NGA include members of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service (DISES) and Defense Intelligence Senior Level (DISL) employees.

NGA DISES positions are managerial positions, allocated to NGA by the Department of Defense, which are classified above the Band 5/GS-15 level. DISES positions are characterized by emphasis on organization or program management responsibilities. DISES positions are the DOD Intelligence Community equivalent to SES positions.

NGA DISL positions are technical or scientific positions, allocated to NGA by DOD, which are classified above the Band 5/GS-15 levels. DISL positions are characterized by emphasis on functional expertise and have no more than minimal supervisory responsibilities (less than 25 percent). DISL's are recognized leaders and authorities in a specialized field or functional area. DISL positions are the DOD Intelligence Community equivalent to SL positions.

Chief Technology Officer

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) guides Geospatial Intelligence Enterprise technology modernization and the future of GEOINT products and services by executing the following: Serve as the technology advisor to GNA leadership, major programs, and partners; Assess government and commercial technology trends and prioritize NGA investments; Evaluate new technologies and processes to deliver value to customers; Build and manage internal software and data engineering capabilities; Provide application and service development activities for both in-house and outsourced capability development; Issue implementation guidance on software engineering, service centric platform, cloud, HPC, and data provisioning; Develop and maintain a NGA Technology Strategy, Technical Focus Areas, software implementation guidance and best practices, Technical Architecture Guidance and Data Strategy, software and data engineering occupation management, technical reviews of programs and projects, builders/makers environment; Serve as the technical interface to mission partners, academia, and industry; Advise NGA leadership in assessing NGA and partner IT requirements; Assess future technology trends and prioritize NGA investments in promising, emerging government and commercial technologies and best industry practices; Implement NGA’s Technology Strategy: Empower builders and makers, allow builders to build faster, better, and more securely using modern tools and practices and industry best practices; Transform digital workspaces – in both the front-end and back-end, create flexible environments for builders, analysts, scientists, and users; Build with customers, bring product management and user-centric design practices and disciplines to the forefront of how we work and build; Build artificial intelligence, cloud, and high-performance computing into GEOINT mainstream.
