Innovators And Leaders

Robert Cardillo

Mr. Robert Cardillo became the sixth Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency on Oct. 3, 2014. Prior to leading NGA, Cardillo served as the first Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Intelligence Integration.

On the day he became Director at NGA, Cardillo released “The Director’s Intent,” in which he outlined his vision for the agency. “The mission is unchanged. The vision and strategy remain in effect. We must continue to provide world-class spatial and temporal context. Geodesy remains our lifeblood. My challenge to you is to build on what you have accomplished by seeing the mission, vision and strategy through a new lens – the lens of consequence. We must enable consequence for those we serve. Consequence is what the customer accomplishes with our work when our data and analysis are so persuasive that that it can be applied to their mission at their decision points.

“Consequence for our customers is the ultimate object of our efforts.”

Cardillo began his career as an imagery analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency in 1983. From 2002 to 2006, he led NGA’s Analysis and Production as well as Source Operations and Management. His leadership assignments at NGA also included Congressional Affairs, Public Affairs, and Corporate Relations.
