During the GEOINT Symposium in New Orleans on Nov. 2, 2010, the National Geospaital-Intelligence Agency unveiled its vision to put the power of geospatial intelligence, or GEOINT, into the hands of the user.
“This is a great Agency with a tremendous mission,” said new NGA director Letitia A. Long from the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center stage. “There is a breadth and depth here that I appreciate more every day, and I think, there is significant, unrealized potential.”
To accomplish its new vision, NGA outlined two strategic goals: one, to fundamentally change the user’s experience by providing on-line, on-demand access to NGA’s GEOINT knowledge; and two, to create new value by broadening and deepening NGA’s own analytic expertise.
Long’s speech at the 2010 GEOINT Symposium led to the agency releasing the NGA Strategy 2013-2017, which continues to inform NGA’s mission and values. This strategy is the roadmap as NGA transitions from a product producer to a content and services provider.
