NGA has a long history of partnering with the academic community on mutually beneficial activities. There are many potential mechanisms by which an academic institution or faculty member may engage with NGA. Described below are some, but not all, of the possible types of partnerships.
At NGA, Academic Outreach is organized in five domains:
- Guest Speakers
- Human Geography Program
Research & Development
Education & Training
- Foreign Language Programs
- Courses offered in conjunction with the National Geospatial-Intelligence College
NGA also participates in Intelligence Community-wide academic outreach initiatives including:
- Center of Academic Excellence in Geospatial Science (CAE GS)
- NGA Academic Research Program calls for grant proposals -- NGA seeks proposals from eligible U.S. institutions for path-breaking GEOINT research in areas of potential interest to NGA, the DoD, and the Intelligence Community (IC). The Broad Agency Announcement is available on Grants.gov as Funding Opportunity Number HM0476-18-BAA-0001.
